Aamir Khan has always set some standard in his movies for past few years. He has experimented again, but this time the results are just fair not the best. 3 idiots does not have that depth in the story which would have caused a hangover as Ghajini did, Lagaan did and Dil Chahta Hai did. Based on the novel five point someone by Chetan Bhagat, the movie was expected to offer much more than what it did. For a youthful movie it was not as good as Dil Chahta Hai and for a thoughtful one it was not as good as Lagaan.
Raju Hirani has done very well with what was there in the novel. He is an entertainer. He did that in the MunnaBhai series and he has done it again. Aamir Khan has done superb as always. The movie belongs to him. Omi has done superb with his shudd hindi speeches and acting. It has been fantastic debut for him, playing negative role. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Boman Irani have all been good in the movie. Kareena did not have much scope but she has done all the justice with what ever she had. Performance wise the movie can be rated on high.
Now, coming to the entertainment thing, the pace in the first half is superb and one might get nostalgic if he has been in any engineering college. The delivery scene which Hirani has used to show the power innovation and creativity holds is a big big piss off. Well its an average movie which can be beared with only once on my part. Its not a bad deal to go and watch it. Hope you like it. I dont think aal is welll... with it. The attempt to make "All is Well" a brand as "Jaadu ki Jhappi" and "Gandhigiri" were, has suffered a blow.
The bottomline is Its a good movie but not the Aamir Khan standard. Have a good time.
PS: Truly movie indicates how bad the Indian educations system is and I am not a fan of it.

Two friends (Madhavan and Sharman Joshi) embark on a quest for a lost buddy. On this journey, they encounter a long forgotten bet, a wedding they must crash, and a funeral that goes impossibly out of control. As they make their way through the perilous landscape, another journey begins: their inner journey through memory lane and the story of their friend- the irrepressible free-thinker Rancho (Aamir Khan), who in his unique way, touched and changed their lives. It's a story of their hostel days that swings between rancho's romance with the spirited Pia (Kareena Kapoor), and his clash with and oppressive mentor, Viru Sahastrabudhhe (Boman Irani). And then one day, suddenly, Rancho vanishes...
